Enhancing Cyber Security: Sperry Software’s Commitment to Your Safety

Email Security Highway Sign

You might think based on the title that this article is about Safeguard Send for Microsoft 365, which helps to prevent mistakes when sending emails outside your company, or perhaps about our recently announced Safeguard Send Core, our newest product that also displays a warning prompt when sending emails.

However, this article is more about overall security in both your organization and here at Sperry Software.

As we enter October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Sperry Software is taking proactive steps to ensure the security of our customers and their data. This month serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of staying vigilant in our digital interactions, especially when it comes to email security.

Staying Safe in Your Inbox

Email remains a primary target for cybercriminals, and it’s essential to practice good habits to protect yourself:

  1. Be Wary of Suspicious Links: Always hover over links to preview the URL before clicking.
  2. Exercise Caution with Attachments: Don’t open attachments from unknown senders or unexpected emails.
  3. Use Strong Passwords: Implement unique, complex passwords for each of your accounts.
  4. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: This adds an extra layer of security to your email and other online accounts.

Sperry Software’s Security Enhancements

In line with our commitment to your security, we’re implementing changes to strengthen our own infrastructure.  Over the next few weeks, we’ll be modifying how our add-ins, including popular tools like Auto Print and Save As PDF, interact with our licensing server. This change will affect two primary functions:

  • Checking for Updates: The process for automatically checking for new versions will be updated.
  • Automatic Upgrades: The system handling automatic upgrades will also undergo changes.

What This Means for You

While we’re working hard to ensure a smooth transition, it’s possible that some users may experience temporary interruptions in these automated processes. However, we want to assure you that your ability to use our add-ins will not be affected.

Manual Updates Always Available

It’s important to remember that even if automatic updates are temporarily unavailable, you can always manually update your add-ins. This ensures you’ll always have access to the latest features and security improvements.

Looking Ahead

These changes represent our ongoing commitment to providing secure, reliable software solutions. By strengthening our backend systems, we’re not only enhancing our own security but also contributing to a safer email environment for all our users.

Stay Informed

We’ll keep you updated on these changes as they roll out. In the meantime, we encourage you to:

– Keep your add-ins up to date
– Stay vigilant about email security
– Reach out to our support team if you have any questions or concerns

Thank you for your continued trust in Sperry Software. Together, we can create a more secure digital world, starting with your inbox!
